Before coming on board as PSC’s Director of Scandinavian Operations, Patrick Walker has had a spectacular career as both a professional soccer player and as a respectable coach. He has coached on the most elite level in Norway and Sweden for over 20 years, and played professionally in a career spanning 14 years. The former Gillingham defender has utilized his extensive list of contacts in Scandinavia to his advantage by helping place a noteworthy amount of PSC Success Stories in Europe. We recently caught up with the Irishman and got him to tell us his Top 10 favorite PSC memories from the last 10 years…

Favorite travel destination over the years?

Portugal, Monte Gordo.

Most memorable match?

Cork City – Irish premier league champions.

Funniest memory from last 10 years?

Many but the U 16 final in Örebro with our passionate coach and an incident with a linesman just beats the story about The PSC director, The Chinese Coach, and a trip upstairs in the lift.

Most meaningful success story and why?

Gustavo Villalobos. He was persistent, humble, wanted to learn, and developed each year.

Favorite player you have worked with and why?

Many very good memories of players like Cam Powell, Danny Murphy, Terrance Treh, Jordan Jones, Diego Lopez, the list could go on. But Gustavo Villalobos is right up top.

What’s been the hardest thing about the job?

I always wanted more time to prepare the players for games on tour. Understandably it isn’t always possible but it would be great to get more time on the training field.

Mark Miller – he will forget to book his ticket home or something and ends up moaning more than ever!

If there was one message you could say to aspiring professional players from your 10 years’ experience what would it be?

Be persistent and set clear goals to achieve your dream.

Where do you see PSC in 10 years time?

Hopefully it will continue to develop and grow, showcasing more and more players around the world to top clubs.

Most embarrassing moment in last 10 years?

It has to be the breakdown of the bus on the way home from Latvia and the poor drivers attempts to get it moving again using a rock and a stick!
