PSC Pro Soccer Combine and UPSL program participant Connor Kass has signed with Lithuanian 1st Division club Utenis Utena after impressing during a 1-week trial. Kass was first sought after during PSC’s Las Vegas and Los Angeles combines, where he obtained a trial in the USL with both the Richmond Kickers and top-tier European side Kauno Zalgiris. Although he had a good showing during his trial but did not put pen to paper with the club, the speedy Australian was quickly recommended to Division 1 side Utenis Utena by Sporting Director and former Glasgow Rangers and Hearts frontman, Andrius Velicka. Velicka evaluated Connor back in December at the PSC Los Angeles event. Connor and the club agreed to a 1-year contract last week making Connor the first PSC Australian player to sign a contract in Europe!
The 24-year-old outside back becomes the latest from a host of success stories who have benefited from PSC’s developing relationships with clubs in the Baltic region, which offer a clear and realistic pathway into the professional game overseas.
PSC Director Tom Taylor said “I believe that this will give Connor a great opportunity to get a full season of games and experience under his belt in Europe. I have liked Connor’s attitude since the first day I saw him train with the UPSL program in California and he’s shown a lot of belief to travel all over the world and invest in himself to showcase his ability as much as possible to a number of clubs and coaches through our programs. His performances, persistence, and hard work have now rewarded him with a chance to play full-time football in Europe, which isn’t easy at any level! We hope that Connor will be the first of many more Australian players to break into the professional game in Europe and the United States through our programs and events. It is a market that has an abundance of talented players who are keen to carve out a professional career abroad but lack the pathway, exposure, and the right contacts to give themselves a realistic opportunity to progress. We hope we can continue to bridge the gap for these types of players as we have with Connor and all of our other success stories.”
All of the PSC Staff wish you success with your new club!
