2017 PSC Combine and Showcase Tour Player Signs with Czech Outfit HFK Trebic

2017 PSC Pro Soccer Combine and Showcase Tour attendee Stefan Gualano has signed with Czech fourth-tier side HFK Trebic.

The 20-year-old defender attended PSC’s New Jersey combine earlier this summer, and subsequently earned an invitation to last month’s Ireland Showcase Tour.

Gualano put in a number of impressive performances throughout the tour and caught the eye of PSC’s Czech Republic partner Karel Hodak, who recommended the right-back to a number of clubs in Europe. Trebic quickly acquired Gualano’s services, and he touched down on Czech soil last month.

PSC Director Tom Taylor watched Gualano from the sidelines in Ireland, and believes the move could hold a lot in store for the ex-New York Athletic Club player.

“We are really pleased to see Stefan get an opportunity to begin his career in the Czech Republic,” said Taylor.

“Stefan has a fantastic attitude and this is a great first step for him to begin a career overseas. It’s not easy getting that first break into professional soccer, and we believe that clubs like Trebic in countries such as the Czech Republic, Latvia, Norway and Sweden – where a number of our players have signed – provide an excellent chance for individuals to gain experience and showcase to higher level outfits.

“Everyone at PSC is excited to see how Stefan progresses in the future,” added Taylor.

Indeed, life on the pitch has begun perfectly for Gualano, who registered both a goal and an assist in his opening two games for Trebic. And following a promising start to life in Europe, the former NPSL player was more than optimistic regarding his future.

“I’m really excited about my future in the Czech Republic,” said Gualano.

“It’s an opportunity to both further my career as a player and embrace a new culture.

“Obviously I’m expecting to face challenges dealing with communication, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to learn the language quickly.”

Gualano becomes the second PSC success story to sign in the Czech Republic, following in the footsteps of 2016 Portugal & Spain Showcase Tour attendee Gary Cennerazzo, who joined second-tier side FK Varnsdorf earlier this year.

And it’s an opportunity Gualano believes other aspiring professionals can replicate with PSC. He said: “The staff at PSC have helped me play at a higher level and progress my football career.

“I would definitely recommend PSC to players who want their careers to move forward.”
