2017 PSC Malta Showcase Tour attendees Carlos Patino and Leon Taylor have earned trials with Swedish Division Two outfit BK Forward.
The duo impressed Forward Head Coach Rickard Nilsson, who was watching on from the sidelines in Malta, and subsequently offered both players a trial period with his side.
Carlos most recently enjoyed a spell of his career with Seattle Sounders FC 2 in the USL, after the club had monitored his progress during his time with PDL outfit Kitsap Pumas. While Leon enjoyed a successful number of years as a Midwestern State University player.
Speaking on his trial period in Sweden and PSC’s Showcase Tour, Carlos said: “The trial has been a good experience so far, I’ve only had one practice but it’s giving me an idea of what European football is like. The Showcase Tour was also a hugely valuable experience, allowing me to play against European teams and compare my level against professional clubs.”
Leon also expressed his gratitude for being presented with a trial offer overseas. He said: “I just want to thank PSC for the opportunities I have been given in Europe so far.”
And PSC Director Tom Taylor, who dealt with both Carlos and Leon on a day-to-day basis during the tour, had nothing but praise for the pair.
“Carlos and Leon both had excellent tours,” he said.
“Following their performances in Malta, they’ve proved that they can compete at the professional level. More importantly, they’ve both shown great attitude and mentality and are the type of characters we are looking to work with,” he continued.
The midfield duo will be looking to draw on previous experience at the professional level, as they train and feature in a number of games on Scandinavian soil this week.
