PSC women’s Combine attendee Michaela Mansfield has earned a trial with Icelandic Premier League side FH Hafnarfjordur.
The 22-year-old caught the eye of FH Head Coach Orri Porrdarson during PSC’s San Diego tryout event in December last year and will be heading out to Iceland for a two-week trial with the club.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to play with this club,” said Mansfield.
“It’s been a huge goal of mine to continue playing competitive soccer, especially now at the highest level. This provides me with an amazing opportunity to continue to grow and develop as a player,” she continued.
And Mansfield spoke of the factors that are making her look forward to the opportunity.
“Aside from meeting and playing with the coaches and players at FH, I am really looking forward to experiencing the country to see if it’s a good fit for me,” she said.
“Iceland is definitely a country of interest for me, and being able to explore this part of the world while playing the sport I love is an incredible prospect,” continued Michaela.
Furthermore, Michaela revealed how impressed she was by the manner in which PSC’s tryout event was conducted. She said: “It was one of the smartest decisions I have made for my career – I would definitely recommend it to any player hoping to continue their soccer career at the professional level. It [the tryout] was so much more personal than I expected. Having the international coaches in charge of a team each day was fantastic. It gave me the opportunity to talk with them directly about what I could improve on and what I was excelling at.”
We wish Michaela the best of luck during her two weeks in Iceland.
