2015 PSC Pro Soccer Combine attendee Sydney Blomquist has signed her first professional contract with Swedish Division One outfit Västerås BK30.
Blomquist impressed during Combines in both San Diego and Fort Lauderdale before PSC Director of Women’s Soccer Simon Deeley recommended the 23-year-old to coaches at the club.
And the winger expressed her delight and excitement in signing with the Scandinavian side.
“I’m so excited to have signed my first contract, playing professional football overseas has been a dream of mine since I was a kid,” she said.
“I’m really looking forward to learning the Swedish style of play and immersing myself in the culture. I feel that competing at the professional level and being in a completely new environment will help me grow and develop more as a player,” Blomquist continued.
Baltimore-born Sydney also had time to reflect on her experience while attending PSC’s Combines and what becoming involved in one of the events can offer an aspiring professional.
“I would recommend PSC Combines or tours to any player who wants to play overseas,” said the former Akron University player.
“As an American player, it’s not always easy to get into a European league. Having the opportunity to play directly in front of European coaches is an invaluable experience – it really gives you a great chance to showcase your abilities. Besides that, the Combine was very well organized and had a great group of talented players. It was really an enjoyable experience,” she added.
All of the staff at PSC wish Sydney the very best of luck over in Sweden.
