At just 24 years old, Sofia Lewis’s star in world of women’s soccer is rising fast. Her journey from the heart of the United States to the shores of Portugal is a testament to her talent, determination, and the professional opportunities that can arise from attending a PSC pro tryout.
Sofia’s story begins in North Dakota, where she graduated from Minot University with dreams of becoming a professional soccer player. Determined to turn her dreams into reality, she took a leap of faith and attended a PSC tryout in January 2023.
Remarkably, eight months later, Sofia finds herself signing her second professional contract, this time with Clube de Albergaria in the Portuguese Premier League. Her rapid rise showcasing not only her ability but the effectiveness of PSC’s talent scouting and development programs.
Sofia’s inaugural season as a professional player in Iceland was a whirlwind of positive experiences as she hit double figures in the scoring chart. Sofia first started making headlines when she scored a sensational hat trick and contributed with an assist against one of the top teams in the league, solidifying her reputation as one of the strongest attacking players in the league.

Sofia, could you tell us about your first season playing as a pro?
“My first season playing pro was full of positive learning experiences. My club in Iceland was the perfect place for me to begin my dream of being a professional soccer player.”
What was the highlight of your season?
“The highlight of my season was scoring a hat trick and assisting a goal against one of the top teams in the league. It was an unforgettable moment in my career.”
What would you say to aspiring players considering attending a PSC tryout?
“I would definitely recommend attending the tryout. The experience opened doors for me and connected me to the world of professional soccer—something I couldn’t do on my own.”
What are you most looking forward to in your new journey with Clube de Albergaria in Portugal?
“I’m most looking forward to playing in a top league against top competitors. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
