Sweden Showcase Keeper Alex Wimmer to Trial with IFK Lulea

PSC is proud to announce their second success story from the 2015 Sweden / Finland Showcase Tour as goalkeeper Alex Wimmer will trial with IFK Lulea this February. The trial was announced just 48 hours after Showcase Tour striker Jared Bennett was confirmed as going on trial in Finland.

The Philadelphia-born shot-stopper originally began the year on PSC’s showcase tour to Ireland where he drew attention with a number of eye-catching saves and flawless distribution against Crumlin United.

It was his performance in this game that prompted PSC staff to invite the 6-foot 4-inch goalkeeper immediately to join the squad in Sweden and Finland for games against IFK Lulea, Pitea, Boden, AC Oulu, and RoPS. Again Wimmer performed well in these games with a special mention in his final game against RoPS where he made a collection of top-drawer saves.

PSC agency staff were quick to make a highlight video from the game and pass it on to their contacts at IFK Lulea who had intimated they were looking for a keeper to PSC staff. Wimmer, who played at Ohio State (USA) and Southport (UK) will now fly back to Lulea next week to train with the first-team squad and keep goal in a pre-season friendly.

IFK Lulea has used PSC’s services before when signing Zac Lubin and Kevin Garcia for the 2015 season from PSC showcases. Goalkeeper Zac Lubin was considered one of the strongest players in the league last season and PSC hopes to see Wimmer follow in his footsteps.

Alex was first spotted by PSC staff after he attended both our Chicago and Fort Lauderdale combine in December. After working closely with Alex over the past 3 weeks PSC staff are delighted to see him earn this opportunity and hope to see him signing professionally in Sweden in the near future.
