PSC are delighted to announce the transfer of Zishim Bawa from Bodens BK in Sweden to Drogheda United of the Irish Premier League.

Bawa was initially scouted by PSC in 2020 at their Arizona Pro Combine when recommended to attend by his youth coaches Ed Alameda and Conor Ward. After standing out at the event Zishim was initially sent to play in a local UPSL team for 6 months due to travel restrictions during Covid. He was then sent by PSC Directors to Bodens BK in Sweden where he was quickly signed by Christian Samuelsson.

The 21 year old forward has excelled for Bodens BK in Sweden over the last three seasons, where he scored 32 goals in 106 games, after signing from PSC Academy as an 18 year old.

A Nigerian / Irish dual citizen, Bawa was actually born in Dublin, Ireland and is relishing the chance to prove himself in his home country.

When asked about the opportunity Zishim commented

"It seems to be really exciting times ahead. With the recent US takeover all seems really positive within the Club and I’m excited for the season ahead. Although there was a lot of interest in me from Sweden, and other European leagues, once I heard about Drogheda United’s interest and the project for the coming years, I was keen to join the Club. I would also like to say a big thanks to those at Bodens BK and PSC in giving me my first chance in Europe and facilitating my move to Drogheda United."

PSC Director Tom Taylor who was instrumental in his placements at Bodens BK and Drogheda commented "We are delighted to see the progression that Zishim has made since we first saw him as an 18 Year old in Arizona. It shows the potential pathways PSC can produce for talented players that join our programmes from UPSL to the combine to Sweden and now to a top tier in Europe. Zishim has produced on the field for his club the last 3 years in Sweden and I’m extremely happy for him."

PSC have 6 more pro tryouts this coming summer for players looking to follow in Zishim's footsteps - they can be viewed here
