PSC are proud to announce the signing of Emma Young with Grindavik in Iceland's Division One after impressing at our Orlando Pro Tryout in January.

The Mississippi College graduate stood out at the tryout but did not attract any offers from the attending coaches. However, PSC Women's Director & Scout Simon Deeley was also in attendance who recognized the ability of the central defender and quickly recommended her to a number of clubs in Europe before she signed in Iceland.

Deeley Commented "During 11v11 play I noticed Emma very quickly and knew by the end of the final session I would be recommending her to clubs if she did not get offers directly from the combine. She went about her defensive duties without fuss and barely put a foot wrong all combine.  Hopefully Grindavik will be just the beginning for her as I believe she has the potential to have a good career in Europe if she chooses."

Emma becomes the third Women's player signed this week in Iceland after Deja Sandoval signed with FHL and Asha Zuniga signed with HK.

We caught up with Emma ahead of her move to Iceland to get her thoughts on the move itself and her tryout experience:

What is it about playing in Iceland that you are most looking forward to?
I am excited to begin my career in professional soccer and I think Iceland is a great place to start this journey. I am looking forward to learning more about the game and playing in a brand new culture. 

What are your hopes and goals for this season?
I am hoping to learn even more about the game from an international perspective. I also hope to contribute to the success of the team and push the club forward. 

How has your experience been with PSC and their facilitating of the deal?
PSC has been extremely helpful in the facilitation of this deal. I have been met with patience, kindness, and a willingness to help me in anyway possible. 

Is there anyone you would like to thank or acknowledge at this time?
I would like to thank my parents, coaches, teammates and friends for pushing me in this journey and supporting me through it. 

What was it about Grindavik that convinced you to choose Iceland for your first pro contract?
I felt very comfortable talking to the coach and felt that I would be taken care of as a player and a person playing for this club.
