PSC are proud to announce another signing in Iceland as Katie Sullivan has put pen to paper with Fjolnir for the 2024 season.

The Former Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer goalkeeper was recommended to PSC Women's Director Simon Deeley who worked quickly to open an opportnuity for her in Europe. PSC have now placed 3 players at Fjolnir and over 30 in Iceland on the women's side alone.

PSC Women's Director Simon Deeley commented, "The process was really smooth with Katie and Fjolnir, it always has been with this club. As soon as I saw Katie's video I knew she was capable of playing at the professional level in Iceland it was just a question of finding a club in need of a Goalkeeper right now. Fjolnir were that club and it seems like a great fit for both parties."

We caught up with Katie before she traveled to Iceland to find out her thoughts:

What is it about playing in Iceland that you are most looking forward to?
Apart from experiencing a new and rich culture, I am really looking forward to immersing myself in a new style of play. With different styles of play and coaching tactics come alternative ways to make an impact on the field. All of these are ways to improve my game and continue my development as an adaptable, coachable, and competitive player. I’m very excited to be surrounded by Iceland’s beautiful landscapes and find ways more ways to travel.

What are your hopes and goals for this season (both individually and as a team)?
Individually I would like to see consistent play across my game as well as growing in my role as a leader from the back. The past few years I have become very confident playing with my feet and beginning my team’s transition to attack. As a team, we have our eyes set on promotion and playing united as one across all our lines.

How has your experience been with PSC and their facilitating of the deal?
It has been quite a seamless and smooth transition. Timing between initial discovery and placement was quick and have had a great experience thus far. I felt Simon has been very professional and ensures that both the players and coaches feel it is a mutually beneficial placement prior to signing the contract.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or acknowledge at this time?
There are so many people I would like to thank and appreciate. Coach Blankenship for continually checking in on me and encouraging me to take my work ethic and skills to the next level. Coach Igor Dimov, Coach Marek Los, and Coach Michal Gorszczaryk for working relentlessly with me through my development as a goalkeeper throughout my entire football career and coaching me to become mentally strong and flexible. My parents and family — I owe all of my accomplishments to their support and foundation. They have encouraged me to follow my dreams and create my own, unique life. To my close friends — for their advice, laughter, and love to keep me moving forward in all the ebbs and flows that come with playing a sport at the next level. To Dr. De Asla and his team, Ben Rouah, and Dr. Lindsay Rose — I don’t think I. could have come back from a long term injury without the great team supporting me through prehabilitation, surgery, and physical therapy. It was a long recovery and I have an incredible of medical team ensuring I have a successful and sustainable comeback.

What was it about Maggi / Fjölnir that convinced you to choose Iceland for your first pro contract?
I had a strong intuition that this was where I was meant to be placed while beginning my journey as a pro footballer. I felt Maggi was very genuine from the first time I spoke with him. I wanted to play for a coach that cared about his players both on and off the field. We discussed different situations and experiences we have had and I felt that Maggi was a coach that would help me develop into the type of player I want to become, and Fjölnir has the culture and players to help support this next step.
