PSC Showcase and Combine players Carlos Martinez and Cemre Tozar have earned trials with Swedish Second Division side Bodens BK.
23-year-old midfielder Martinez attended PSC’s 2016 San Diego Combine and 2017 Malta Showcase Tour, while fellow midfielder Tozar featured in the former event. Subsequently, both individuals were recommended to Bodens Sporting Director Christian Samuelsson by PSC coaching staff.
The duo arrived in Sweden last week and were involved in two of the club’s friendly matches against outfits competing in Sweden’s First and Second Division – an experience that Nova Southeastern University graduate Tozar relished, with the help of some hospitality.
“The club have taken good care of me; the teammates and staff are really helpful,” said Tozar, who scored in Bodens’ 3-1 victory over GMFF earlier today.
“Soccer here in Sweden is played at a really high tempo, I had to adjust to that in the first game, but the team is great – we just have to connect as there are many new and different players.
“We improved in our second game and now we are ready to win our third match,” he continued.
Martinez, who was placed with USL outfit Tulsa Roughnecks F.C. last year following his attendance at PSC’s 2015 L.A. Combine, expressed his gratitude following his latest opportunity in the professional soccer industry.
“I would like to thank Tom Taylor, my agent Stefani Miglioranzi and PSC for the opportunity to go to Malta for the Showcase Tour – it was an unforgettable experience,” said the former IMG Academy player.
“The trial in Bodens has been great. I’ve had the opportunity to play in two friendly matches and learned that the speed of play here is much faster,” continued Martinez.
Furthermore, both players praised the work of PSC, both during and after Combines and Showcase Tours.
“I honestly wasn’t too sure if PSC were going to keep working with me, as many companies who stage combines fail to give you feedback, but PSC stayed in touch and found me this amazing opportunity in Sweden,” said Tozar.
“During the tryouts PSC brought the coaches and managers of teams really close to the players – so they didn’t just watch us play, they also coached us and even more importantly engaged with us.
“I recommend PSC’s Combines to other individuals who are serious about soccer, because PSC are, too,” concluded Tozar.
And Martinez was quick to offer his recommendation of PSC’s services to other individuals. He said: “Without doubt, I recommend the Showcase Tours to footballers who have the skills, but for whatever the reason might be, haven’t succeeded yet. I would like to reassure those individuals that it is possible to make it in the game with opportunities like this.”
All of the staff here at PSC wish Carlos and Cemre the very best of luck over in Sweden during their respective trial periods with Bodens.
